Meanwhile, DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh has issued an appeal to the people to refrain from travelling during peak hours so as to avoid overcrowding in the Metro as well as at the stations.

“All services of Delhi Metro will resume from September 13 and it will be available at all lines in normal timing. But I want to bring it into your notice that the capacity has been reduced due to the social distancing protocol.

“Earlier, we used to carry 250-300 passengers at once but now the capacity has been reduced to 50 only. Hence, I request you to refrain from travelling during peak hours. If you do this then Delhi Metro will be able to serve you better,” he said.

The DMRC chief also warned people against getting complacent and think that everything has returned to normal. He said people who can should continue to “work from home”.

During the 171-day shutdown, the Delhi Metro had incurred a revenue loss of over Rs 1,500 crores.
