Gold and Silver Rate Today, 24 December: Amid global tensions, gold and silver prices have once again set new records. Let’s find out today’s latest rates in major cities across the country.
Gold Silver Rate Today 24 December: Gold and silver are setting new records daily in the domestic commodity market. On Wednesday, December 24, both metals once again reached record highs on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). This surge was driven by expectations of an interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve in January and a weakening dollar. Gold for February delivery on MCX rose 0.42 percent to an all-time high of ₹1,38,469 per 10 grams. Silver for March delivery jumped nearly 2 percent to a new high of ₹2,23,742 per kilogram.
Gold also at record highs in the international market
Gold prices in the international market also crossed $4,500 per ounce for the first time. Expectations of further rate cuts from the Fed next year are increasing demand for safe-haven investments. In addition to the Fed factor, the dollar’s weakness and tensions between the US and Venezuela are also major reasons for this rise in gold prices. Let us tell you that America has banned Venezuela’s oil tankers, due to which the geo-political risk has increased.
Dollar Index Falls
Jigar Trivedi, Senior Research Analyst at Reliance Securities, said, “The market is expecting two rate cuts in 2026 as inflation and job conditions are easing. Meanwhile, escalating tensions between the US and Venezuela have further strengthened demand for safe-haven investments.” The dollar index fell 0.20 percent to a nearly three-month low, making gold slightly cheaper in foreign currencies.
