Why is gold slipping?
Speaking to news agency ANI, Anantha Padmanabhan, founding member and former chairman of the All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC), expects gold prices to reach a record high of ₹1.50 lakh per ten grams in the coming months. This is because purchases by central banks in the global and domestic markets, along with strong public demand, especially in China and Japan, could drive gold prices higher. He believes that if trade talks between China and the US are unsuccessful and the Russia-Ukraine war continues, gold could reach ₹1.50 lakh in the coming months. Padmanabhan also expects a short-term correction, potentially leading to a temporary decline to ₹1.15 lakh. This has led to a softening of gold prices due to profit-booking.
