Free Electricity: DISCOMS on Thursday issued guidelines for the new formula for free electricity under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. It has been clarified that domestic consumers installing 1.1 kW solar panels will get an additional subsidy of Rs 17,000 from the state government, but they will have to install the panels at their own expense first.
Such consumers will also need to register on the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar portal. After the central government releases the subsidy of Rs 33,000, the DISCOM will deposit the additional subsidy in their account.
Only those people who have their own roofs will be able to install solar panels. It has also been clarified that only those people who have their own roofs will be able to install solar panels. Especially under this scheme, consumers consuming up to 150 units per month will get zero bill. They will not have to pay any cost. There are about 77 lakh such consumers.
DISCOMS will take loans to repay the subsidy amount to consumers. The government will pay installments of this loan amount to DISCOM companies.
This process is…
1- Registered consumers will have to give their consent on the Rajasthan DISCOM website or Bijli Mitra mobile app.
2- Then they should select an authorized vendor on the national portal (PM Surya Ghar Yojana) and install their solar panels.
3- The minimum capacity of the solar system will be 1.1 kilowatts.
4- A team will inspect and approve the subsidy after the solar installation is complete.
Zero bill for these consumers
Consumers consuming up to 150 units will have zero bills. Participants in this scheme will receive subsidy as determined by the Central and State Governments.
