Emirates Airlines: You must have often seen that passengers carry power banks in the flight to charge their mobile or laptop. But now according to the new rules, passengers will not be able to do this at all.

Yes, actually, the airline company Emirates has implemented a new rule. Under this, passengers will not be able to use power banks during the flight from now onwards. This rule will come into effect from today i.e. 2nd October. According to this new rule, passengers will be able to keep only one power bank of up to 100W in the cabin bag. But, this device will remain switched off during the entire journey. Apart from this, passengers will not be able to charge their phones or laptops from the power bank during the entire journey, nor will the power bank be able to be charged through the in-seat socket.

Emirates says this decision was made with passenger safety in mind. According to the airline, the use of power banks has increased rapidly in the past few years, leading to a rise in battery-related incidents. Problems with lithium-ion batteries have particularly impacted the aviation sector. Therefore, this step has been taken to limit their use during flights.

Emirates has not only banned the use of power banks during flights, but has also clarified where and how to keep them during the flight. According to the new rule, passengers can only bring power banks with a capacity of 100Wh (about 27000mAh) on Emirates flights.

Also, passengers can only keep the power bank in their pocket seat or under the seat in front. It will not be allowed to keep it in the overhead bin. The airline says that charging ports are available on their aircraft, hence passengers are advised to fully charge their devices before boarding the flight.

Rules by Global Authorities

Global aviation authorities such as the FAA, TSA, CAA, and IATA have established new regulations governing the carrying and use of power banks on flights. According to these regulations, passengers can carry power banks in their cabin bags. Typically, the maximum capacity must be 100 watt-hours (approximately 2700mAh), while some airlines allow power banks up to 160Wh.
