FASTag Annual Pass: If you travel by highway daily, then there is good news for you. The central government has announced to start FASTag Annual Pass from 15 August 2025. Under this, toll-free travel facility will be available for one year or up to 200 trips for just Rs 3,000. This service will be available on the entire National Highway ( NH) and National Expressway ( NE) network.
Why was this pass brought?
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways ( MoRTH) says that this scheme will provide relief to frequent travellers from paying toll every time. Now both time and money can be saved by making payment for the whole year in one go.
Who can get this pass?
- Vehicle owners with private cars, jeeps or vans only
- Commercial vehicles will not get this facility
- Vehicle details will be verified from VAHAN database
- FASTag will be deactivated immediately if wrong information is provided or misused
Where to get Annual Pass?
- Highway Travel Mobile App or
- Apply by visiting the NHAI website
- Pay the fee of Rs 3,000 online
- After verification the pass will be activated in about 2 hours
How will the pass work?
- Toll free at all toll plazas on NH and NE
- The pass will automatically get converted into a normal FASTag after completion of 200 trips or one year.
- It will work like a normal tag on state highways, local roads and parking lots and a charge will be levied there.
How will trips be counted?
- In an open toll system (where there is only one plaza) each crossing will be considered as one trip.
- In a closed toll system (where there are both entries and exits), one entry-exit will be considered as one trip.
What does the government say?
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari says that this pass will eliminate the hassles caused by back-to-back toll plazas and will give a big benefit to daily commuters and intercity travelers. If you travel on the highway daily, then this FASTag Annual Pass is very beneficial for you.
