Updating profile has become easier now
If your UAN is linked to Aadhaar, then now you can update information like your name, date of birth and nationality online without uploading any document. However, UAN holders created before October 2017 may have to take approval of the employer in some cases.
No more employer approval for PF transfer
From January 15, 2025, the process of PF transfer has been simplified when changing jobs. Now in most cases, employer approval will not be required, due to which the transfer will be done quickly and without hassle. Also, the process of joint declaration has also been digitalized.
Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) launched
The new system has come into effect from January 1, 2025, in which pension will be sent directly to the bank account through the NPCI platform. Earlier Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) were sent to different regional offices, which caused delays.
Option for high salary holders too
If your salary is more than the prescribed limit, then you can apply for more pension by making extra contribution. EPFO has now made this process clear and uniform, so that everyone can get the correct information about their pension rights.
Private trusts are now also under the purview of rules like EPFO
EPFO has directed that private trusts which are not under the purview of EPFO should also follow the same pension related procedures which are applicable in EPFO. This will make the process of pension management uniform across the country and will provide relief from confusing rules.
