Salary will be paid in Maharashtra tomorrow, Tuesday 26 August
The central government has taken this decision in view of the upcoming Ganpati festival and Onam festival, so that government employees can complete their necessary preparations before the festival. The Finance Ministry said in an office memorandum issued on 22 August 2025 that all central government employees working in Maharashtra, including defense, postal and telecommunication departments. The salary for the month of August will be released tomorrow, Tuesday 26 August 2025. It is worth noting that this year Ganpati festival will be celebrated on 27 August. In such a situation, the government has decided to give salary to the employees a day in advance.
Advance salary will be given in Kerala today on 25th August
Central government employees and pensioners working in Kerala will be paid salary and pension on Monday, 25 August 2025. In a notification issued on 21 August 2025, the ministry said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the Onam festival. This year the Onam festival is on 4 and 5 September, but shopping and preparations start earlier. This is the reason why the central government has given the salary ahead of time. Onam festival in Kerala will run from 26 August to 4 September.
Will be considered as advance payment
The Finance Ministry has also clarified that this salary and pension for the month of August will be given as advance payment. After the salary and pension are decided at the end of the month, adjustments will be made in it. If any deduction or change is necessary, it will be adjusted in the salary of August or September.
Instructions to RBI
The government has requested the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to immediately send these orders to all payment branches in Maharashtra and Kerala so that salaries and pensions can reach the employees on time.
