Chandigarh- After the festive season, the Chandigarh Electricity Department has given a big shock to the public by increasing the electricity tariffs. The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission has increased the electricity tariffs by 0.94% for the year 2025-26, which will be effective from November 1.
In the subsequent years, increases of 3.86%, 7.21%, 9.29% and 11.10% have been approved respectively. Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited had proposed a 7.57% increase in electricity tariffs. “This is our first tariff order after privatisation, and we fully understand our responsibility. CPDL, in collaboration with the UT administration and JERC, is fully committed to improving system reliability, reducing technical losses and providing better services to consumers,” said a company spokesperson.
