What is this e-sign feature and for which tasks will it be necessary?

The Election Commission has launched an e-sign feature that now requires voters to verify their identity using their Aadhaar-linked mobile number when registering, removing their name, or making any other correction. Previously, this feature was available without any verification, but has been implemented to prevent misuse.

Be sure to know this important thing:-

After the new system is launched, if you do a new registration i.e. fill Form 6 or get your name removed i.e. fill Form 7 or get any kind of correction done i.e. fill Form 8, then it will be mandatory for you to e-sign.

Make sure the name on your Aadhaar card and Voter ID card are the same, meaning there are no discrepancies. Furthermore, your mobile number must be linked to your Aadhaar card.

step 1

  • Now, if you register afresh, withdraw your name or make any correction in your voter ID card, then e-sign will be mandatory for you.
  • For this you are directed to an external e-Sign portal
  • Here you have to first enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number.

Step 2

  • After this, OTP will come on the mobile number linked to your Aadhar card.
  • All you have to do is enter the OTP received here and give your consent, and then the verification is complete.
  • Then you have to submit the form on the ECINET portal
