The e-Aadhaar app, which will launch next year, will allow you to easily update your Aadhaar card’s date of birth, address, and number from the comfort of your home. It will also feature identity protection using artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology.
Updating your Aadhaar card used to take time and effort. Changing your address, date of birth, or mobile number required repeated visits to a service center. These challenges are soon to be resolved, as the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has completed preparations to launch an all-in-one mobile app, e-Aadhaar. This new app will be available for both Android and iOS platforms and could be released to citizens by the end of 2025.
Details will be updated in a few clicks
The e-Aadhaar app allows every user to update their Aadhaar-related information, such as date of birth, mobile number, address, and other important data, from the comfort of their home. The app’s biggest advantage is that citizens will no longer need to repeatedly visit service centers or enrollment centers. Smart facial recognition and artificial intelligence technology will also significantly reduce the risk of identity theft or fraud.
All government data in one place
This new app will automatically pull your Aadhaar data from government documents such as birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, and ration cards. This eliminates the hassle of repeatedly uploading individual documents. This app will become a digital government data platform, freeing citizens from the hassle of paperwork.
Both identity and security are secure
The app will feature QR code verification and a digital Aadhaar card, ensuring identity security and reducing the risk of fraud. According to UIDAI, the online process for demographic updates (address, phone number, and date of birth) will be free, and a nominal fee has been set for biometric updates. Biometric updates will be free for children and teenagers.
Waiting for launch
This app has been in the news since August 2025, but it is now expected to be released by the end of this year. By launching it, the government is taking a major step towards making digital services faster, safer, and paperless. It will now be even easier and faster for citizens to access government services.
