Indian Railways Platform Ticket Rules For Diwali Chhath Puja 2025: Indian Railways operates a large number of trains daily to ensure passengers reach their destinations on time.

Trains operate to every corner of the country, and people enjoy train travel. During festivals, Indian Railways also runs additional trains.

Many trains operate, especially between Diwali and Chhath Puja, as these occasions see a large number of people traveling home. For example, this time too, the Railways has run several additional trains for those traveling home between Diwali and Chhath Puja. But did you know that platform tickets will not be available at many railway stations from Diwali to Chhath? Probably not, so let’s find out which stations will not offer platform tickets.

Why will platform ticket not be available?

  • In fact, Indian Railways has decided not to issue platform tickets at many stations across the country during the festive season. This decision was made to reduce the heavy rush of passengers at railway stations during the festive season, to control crowds, and to ensure safe and smooth travel. Therefore, Indian Railways took this decision.

Platform tickets will not be available at these stations

  • Indian Railways has decided to temporarily suspend the sale of platform tickets at several stations across the country to manage crowds. To avoid unnecessary crowding at stations and to ensure smooth travel and boarding and deboarding of trains, other passengers can continue to travel freely.
  • New Delhi
  • Old Delhi
  • Hazrat Nizamuddin
  • Anand Vihar Terminal
  • Sale of platform tickets will also remain closed at many other busy stations in the country like Ghaziabad etc.

The rule will remain effective till this date

  • If you’re planning to travel by train between Diwali and Chhath Puja, be aware that the railways has temporarily suspended platform ticket sales until October 28, 2025. However, platform tickets will be available for senior citizens, sick passengers, children, and women passengers requiring assistance (passengers who cannot travel without a family member).
