Diwali Holidays 2025

In Haryana, many schools will remain closed from October 17 to October 23, while in some areas, the vacation will be from October 19 to October 23. However, the real vacation will be on Diwali. Schools will remain closed for five consecutive days on Diwali from October 19 to October 23. In states like Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan, these holidays are fixed, but you can check with your school about when and for how long the schools will remain closed.
When is which festival?
Diwali is on October 21, but schools will close ahead of the festive season. Some schools in Haryana will start their vacations from October 17. Let’s know when which festival is:

- October 20 (Monday) – Naraka Chaturdashi (Little Diwali): Holiday in most states.
- October 21 (Tuesday) – Diwali: Nationwide government holiday, schools and colleges closed.
- October 22 (Wednesday) – Govardhan Puja: Holiday in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana.
- October 23 (Thursday) – Bhai Dooj: Schools will remain closed everywhere.

Chhath Puja: When will there be holidays for Chhath Puja?
- October 25 (Saturday) – Nai-Khai: Some schools will remain closed.
- October 27 (Monday) – Evening Prayer: Holiday.
- October 28 (Tuesday) – Usha Arghya: Most schools closed.
Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh will have four-day holidays from October 25-28. In cities like Delhi-NCR or Mumbai, local schools may declare a holiday on October 27-28. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will have a holiday on October 31 for Sardar Patel Jayanti.
