Diwali and Chhath will bring a smile to the faces of postal employees. The Government of India has approved the Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for the financial year 2024–25.

According to this announcement, eligible postal employees will receive a bonus equivalent to 60 days’ salary. This decision was taken by the Postal Department following the President’s approval and is being considered an important step to boost employee morale and financial security.

Which employees will be eligible for this bonus?

All eligible postal employees will benefit from the PLB. These include:

  • MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff)
  • Group ‘C’ employees such as Postal Assistants, Sorting Assistants, Postal Bill Workers and Mail Guards
  • Non-gazetted Group ‘B’ employees such as Inspectors, Assistant Superintendents and Office Superintendents
  • Additionally, Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) will receive a separate ex-gratia bonus, while full-time and temporary workers will receive a half-time bonus.

Method of calculation of bonus

Productivity Bonus for regular employees will be calculated as follows:
Productivity Bonus = Average Pay x Bonus Days / 30.4 (average days in a month)
This will include Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance, Special Allowance, Duty Allowance and Training Allowance.

Gramin Dak Sevaks will receive their bonus based on their TRCA (Time Related Allowance) and dearness allowance. Half-time employees who receive the bonus must work at least 8 hours a day and have three years of continuous service. This bonus provides financial security and encouragement to postal employees, especially during festivals like Diwali. This bonus will increase their income and enhance the joy of the festival.
