Digital Life Certificate: The Indian government has taken a major step for pensioners. The Ministry of Communications announced on Monday that a major agreement has been reached between India Post Payments Bank and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). This agreement will provide significant relief to pensioners.
What will be the benefit to pensioners?
Until now, pensioners had to visit the EPFO office to verify their digital life certificate. However, now all work will be done from home. EPFO pensioners will now have the convenience of submitting their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) from the comfort of their homes. Senior citizens, from anywhere in the country, will be able to submit their life certificate with just one click.

Postal workers will also help
Many elderly people still don’t know how to use a phone. Therefore, they will be able to submit their life certificate by visiting 1.65 lakh post offices across the country. In addition, 3 lakh postmen will also go door-to-door to help people. All postmen are being equipped with digital devices and biometric machines. These postmen will issue your life certificate using a fingerprint or face authentication.
With this partnership, pensioners will no longer need to fill out lengthy forms. Their work will be completed simply by using face authentication technology and biometric verification. This will greatly benefit senior citizens who are unable to move around. The Government of India is not charging even a single rupee for this facility. Generating a digital life certificate is absolutely free.
How will this new process work?
The process of obtaining a digital life certificate is now simpler and faster than ever. Pensioners simply need to book an appointment with the IPPB or the Postal Department, after which a postman will visit their home. Face or fingerprint verification is performed using a biometric device. Once the identity is confirmed, the system will instantly transmit the data and the digital life certificate will be generated. The entire process is completed within minutes.
