The Delhi government is considering restarting the ‘Bed and Breakfast’ (B&B) scheme. The Delhi government is studying Goa’s policy in this regard. Since the launch of the Delhi government’s ‘Bed and Breakfast’ scheme, more than 2,200 rooms in 432 homes in the national capital were registered under it by 2023. An official said, “This scheme was discontinued and now we are considering restarting this scheme. We are studying Goa ‘s ‘Homestay and Bed and Breakfast’ policy to see how we can adopt some of its points.”
What is the purpose of this scheme
Under this scheme, financial incentives and assistance will be provided to local people running homestays in remote areas. The official said, “Goa’s policy for homestays has been praised for generating business. In a report, NITI Aayog also recommended that other states adopt Goa’s policy for homestays.”
The scheme was launched in 2007 and was later discontinued.
