Delhi Water Supply: Ammonia levels rise in Yamuna, water shortage in many areas of Delhi

Delhi Watter Supply: Due to rising level of ammonia in Yamuna water, there has been a shortage of water in many areas of the capital Delhi since Thursday evening. Even on Friday morning water came very low, due to which people had to face trouble. At the same time, Delhi Jal Board has appealed to the people of the areas where water supply is affected, that they should not use the water for drinking or cooking. Jalboard says that the amount of ammonia in the water can cause harm to the body.




Due to the increase in the level of ammonia in the river Yamuna, work is going on at the purification plant and Sonia Vihar water treatment plant. Due to this, the supply of water will be interrupted. To avoid trouble, people will have to store water and spend it according to the need, so that there is no problem.

It is being told that in many areas of Delhi, people will have to face drinking water shortage for a few more days. Many water plants in Delhi have had to be closed due to increase in the amount of ammonia in the Yamuna river. This may increase the water shortage in Delhi. The closure of Chandrawal and Wazirabad plants has resulted in a shortage of 125 MGD water. It is being told that the release of polluted water from the industrial areas of Haryana has increased the amount of ammonia in the Yamuna River.

Bhagirathi water treatment plant and Sonia Vihar water purification plant will not supply water on Friday

Water supply has been disrupted in many areas of Delhi on Friday morning due to rising levels of ammonia in Yamuna river. Delhi Jal Board officials say the Upper Ganga Canal is currently closed for annual repair work and ammonia levels have risen in the Yamuna River. Due to this, water is not being supplied from Bhagirathi water treatment plant and Sonia Vihar water treatment plant on Friday morning.
