On the morning of Monday, February 9, 2026, the Delhi school system was thrown into a state of emergency. Starting at approximately 8:33 AM, a wave of bomb threat emails hit at least ten major educational institutions, forcing immediate evacuations and a massive deployment of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), local police, and bomb disposal squads.

The emails, which appeared to be coordinated, utilized highly sensitive political rhetoric, sparking concerns over communal harmony and national security.

The “Khalistan” Connection: Analyzing the Provocative Email

The emails were not just limited to threats of violence but carried a specific ideological agenda. The message reportedly stated, “Delhi will become Khalistan. Punjab is Khalistan. In memory of Afzal Guru.” By linking the Khalistan separatist movement with Afzal Guru (convicted for the 2001 Parliament attack), the senders aimed to maximize shock value. Police officials are currently investigating whether these emails originated from local mischief-makers or foreign-based servers using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to mask their location.

Parliament Under Threat: The February 13 Warning

Perhaps the most alarming detail in the communication was a specific “pre-announcement” of a secondary attack. The email claimed that a blast would occur at the Indian Parliament on February 13, 2026, at precisely 1:11 PM.

Security around the Parliament House complex has been significantly heightened following this disclosure. Intelligence agencies are analyzing the digital footprint of the email to determine if this is a credible threat or a sophisticated psychological operation designed to cause national disruption.

Security Response: Bomb Squads and Evacuation Protocols

Following the standard operating procedure (SOP), schools immediately suspended classes and moved students to safe assembly points.

  • K9 & Bomb Squads: Specialist teams conducted “anti-sabotage” checks across all ten campuses.

  • Cyber Cell Involvement: The Delhi Police Cyber Cell is working with email service providers to trace the IP addresses used.

  • Hoax Determination: As of noon today, no suspicious objects have been found. While many schools have been cleared, authorities remain on high alert.

Context: A Growing Trend of Digital Terror Hoaxes

This incident is the latest in a series of digital threats targeting Indian infrastructure. In January 2026, eight schools received similar threats that were later declared hoaxes. Furthermore, in early 2025, a minor was apprehended for sending threats to over 400 schools.

The recurring nature of these threats highlights a growing challenge for Delhi’s security apparatus: the need to treat every threat as real while minimizing the economic and emotional toll of these frequent “hoax” cycles.

Next Steps

Parents are advised to wait for official communication from school administrations before sending children back for the next session. You should also monitor official Delhi Police social media handles for real-time updates on the Parliament security status. Finally, the Ministry of Home Affairs is expected to release a statement regarding enhanced digital surveillance for educational institutions later this week.
