Delhi News: The Delhi government will add 50,000 new senior citizens to the ‘Old Age Pension Scheme’, which will start on September 17. Those above 60 years of age will get a monthly pension of Rs 2500 and those above 70 years of age will get Rs 3000.
Rekha Gupta Government of Delhi has decided that 50 thousand new beneficiaries will be added to the ‘Old Age Pension Scheme’. This work will be done during the ‘Seva Pakhwada’ organized on 17 September on the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi .
The government is saying that the enrollment drive will ensure that maximum number of elderly people are included in this scheme and they do not have to wait for anyone to fulfill their needs. They should get financial help from the government itself.

The Social Welfare Department will launch the enrollment process for 50,000 elderly beneficiaries under the ‘Old Age Pension Scheme’ at the Indira Gandhi Stadium on September 17.
Increase in monthly pension
Apart from this, monthly pension for senior citizens is also being increased. Beneficiaries aged 60 years and above will now get Rs 2500 instead of Rs 2000. At the same time, pension for beneficiaries aged 70 years and above is being increased from Rs 2500 to Rs 3000.
Along with this, beneficiaries of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe community will be given additional pension of Rs 500 every month.
Backlog completed in 7 months
According to the report of news agency PTI, the last registration process was done in November 2024, when many applications remained pending and there was a delay in this process. It took more than seven months for the officials to clear the backlog. All pending registrations were completed by June 2025.

CM Rekha Gupta made this appeal
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has appealed to the eligible senior citizens to apply on time to avail the benefits of this scheme. The CM urged all the eligible elderly and Divyangjans to come forward and avail the benefits of this scheme of the government.
For information, let us tell you that at present, the Delhi government is giving pension to about 3.8 lakh women, 4.6 lakh elderly people and 1.3 lakh disabled people. Rs 1140 crore is spent every year to complete these schemes.
