Delhi has basically disappeared into a wall of white. As of Monday morning, December 29, 2025, the “winter chill” has officially upgraded to a full-blown crisis. Zero visibility, “Severe” air, and a city that’s largely stopped moving.

The thing is, we all knew winter was coming, but this is next-level. Or nothing. Let’s be real, you can’t even see the tail lights of the car in front of you on the DND Flyway. Those too. The IMD has slapped an Orange Alert on the region, and it’s not just for show.

The Flight & Train Chaos
If you have a flight today, you probably don’t. The IGI Airport is essentially a giant parking lot right now.
Cancellations: 128 flights are gone—64 coming in, 64 going out.
Diversions: 8 flights had to give up on Delhi entirely. One Air India Express flight from Goa was literally circling until it had to bolt for Ahmedabad at 2:30 AM.
The Rails: Over 100 trains are crawling. Some passengers at New Delhi Railway Station are reporting delays of 8 to 10 hours. It’s an ongoing situation where the “fog season” is expected to bite hard until mid-February.
Noida Schools: Locked Down
Noida isn’t taking any chances. With visibility on the Yamuna Expressway hitting near-zero, the district administration has called it:

The Order: All schools (Nursery to Class 12) are closed from December 29 to January 1, 2026.
The Reason: It’s a double whammy of a “Severe Cold Wave” and hazardous road conditions.
The Scope: This isn’t just Noida; the UP government has basically shut down schools across most of the state to keep kids off the dangerous, foggy roads.
AQI: Back in the ‘Severe’ Zone
And here’s the kicker: just when we thought the air was clearing up last week, the AQI has punched back to 403.
Anand Vihar: Currently the “gas chamber” of the city at 459.
Vivek Vihar: Hitting 456.
The Outlook: The wind is too weak (below 15 kmph) to push the smog away. We’re stuck in this “soup” for at least the next three days.
