Delhi Fog: 110 Flights Cancelled at IGIA Today

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is a total mess right now. The thing is, a thick blanket of fog just hammered the city, and it’s throwing holiday travel into a tailspin. Basically, on Sunday alone, we saw 110 flights cancelled.

Actually, more than 370 others were delayed. Thousands of people are just sitting in terminals waiting for a break in the clouds.

And here’s the kicker. It’s not just a Delhi problem. Specifically, the fog has stretched across the entire northern plains.

As a result, visibility at Palam dropped to a measly 150 metres on Monday morning. Consequently, more than 150 flights were delayed today as well. It’s a recurring winter nightmare that hits every December (let’s be real, it never gets easier).

In fact, the airlines are scrambling to keep up. IndiGo put out an advisory warning everyone that visibility can vanish in seconds. Instead of a smooth morning, travelers are being told to check their flight status before even leaving home.

And then Y followed. Air India launched its “FogCare” initiative. Basically, if your flight is stuck, they’ll let you rebook or grab a full refund without the usual fees.

The thing is, the trains aren’t doing any better. Actually, over 50 trains under the Northern Railways have been delayed because of the same grey soup.

As a result, the whole transport network is basically on pause. Instead of a tidy wrap-up, the weather office says this won’t let up until at least Tuesday.

And then Y followed. A western disturbance is bringing snow to the hills, which means the fog is staying put for now….
