Air India and Air India Express domestic flights at Delhi Airport will undergo major changes starting October 26. Air India’s 60 domestic flights will operate from T2, while all Air India Express domestic flights will operate from T1.

A major change is underway for passengers at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Airport operator DIAL (Delhi International Airport Ltd.) is expanding Terminal 3 (T3) to increase capacity for international passengers. As a result, Air India and Air India Express have had to shift some of their domestic operations.

New changes will come into effect from October 26

Air India has announced changes to its domestic operations at Delhi Airport effective October 26, 2025. Air India will operate 60 of its 180 daily domestic flights from Terminal 2 (T2). All Air India Express domestic flights will now operate from Terminal 1 (T1). However, international flights will remain unaffected. All international Air India and Air India Express international flights will operate from Terminal 3 (T3) as before.

How to identify flights departing from T2

For passenger convenience, Air India has assigned new numbers to flights operating from T2. All flights will be four-digit numbers and begin with ‘1’ (e.g., AI1737, AI1787). All flights in this series will now operate from T2.

Convenience for passengers changing terminals

Inter-terminal transfers will be available for passengers with connecting flights between Air India and Air India Express. Bags for passengers with boarding passes will be transferred directly to the airside. Free shuttle services between T1, T2, and T3 will be available every 10 minutes. Buggy rides will also be available for passengers requiring special assistance.

Passengers will get extra help

Air India and Air India Express have stated that they will notify passengers of the changes via SMS and email. Passengers making new bookings will receive terminal information on their tickets. Passengers who check in online will also receive a special notification. The airline has also announced the deployment of additional ground staff, who will wear special T-shirts to make passengers more easily identifiable.

Important advice for travelers

The airline urges passengers to update their bookings with the correct contact number and email address to ensure timely notifications. Passengers should also check terminal information prior to their travel by visiting the official Air India and Air India Express websites, mobile apps, or customer service.
