DA Hike: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday announced an additional 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) and DR for state employees and pensioners in the Assembly. He described it as a Durga Puja gift for employees and pensioners.

The Chief Minister said that despite lack of resources, the government has decided to give 3% additional Dearness Allowance to employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners from October 1. This decision will benefit 1,05,739 employees and 84,342 pensioners. This will result in an additional burden of approximately ₹125 crore on the state government in the remaining months of the current financial year.

How much DA will you get now?

It should be noted that with this increase, Tripura government employees will now receive 36% dearness allowance, while central employees are currently paid 52% DA. Over the past few years, the Tripura government has progressively increased dearness allowance—4% in FY22, 3% in FY23, and 2% additional DA in FY24. Thus far, state employees and pensioners have received consistent improvements and increases in dearness allowance, a step taken keeping in mind their financial security and growing spending needs. The government believes that this move will provide significant relief to employees and pensioners during the festive season.

When will the DA of central employees increase?

As the festive season begins, central government employees and pensioners are eagerly awaiting the next increase in their dearness allowance (DA) or dearness relief (DR). According to various media reports, an announcement regarding the DA hike is possible by Diwali. In March of this year, the central government increased DA/DR by 2 percent for its employees and pensioners. This DA/DR increase came into effect from January 1, 2025, meaning that the arrears for this period were paid to all employees and pensioners. After the DA/DR increase in March, central government employees and pensioners now receive 55 percent DA/DR.
