Cyclone Tracker: In view of the cyclone, the Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for several districts of Odisha on Tuesday and Wednesday. Due to its effect, light to moderate rain may occur in Odisha. By 8:30 am on Wednesday, there is a possibility of thundershowers with strong winds of 30 to 40 kmph at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Rain likely in Odisha for next 7 days
IMD Bhubaneswar Director Manorama Mohanty said, “A low pressure area has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal and is expected to intensify into a depression by Wednesday afternoon and move towards the Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coasts. This system is unlikely to have a direct impact on Odisha, but rainfall activity is likely over the state for the next seven days.”
Chances of rain from October 22 to 27
Due to the low pressure and cyclone, heavy rain is expected at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from October 22 to 27 and in Odisha on October 25 and 26. Thunderstorms are also expected along with the rain.
