A dangerous and powerful Android malware is back again after three years. This malware is capable of stealing users’ banking details and personal information. The malware, named fakesky, was spotted in October 2017, when it targeted people in Japan and South Korea. But now researchers from Cybereason Nocturnus have found that Fascaskai is targeting users all over the world. This malware is attacking China, Taiwan, France, Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, United States and other countries.

This time, this malware is fooling users by sending a message as a postal service app. In fact, this time also, this malware is on the bank account of users. According to the report, this malware is targeting users through smishing or SMS-fishing attacks. It sends an SMS to the users asking them to download an app.

once it opens the app containing the virus, it asks the user for two permissions. With the help of the first permission, it can read the incoming messages on the device and with the help of the second, the device continues to work in the background even when it is locked.

Once the permission is received, they steal your important information such as your phone number, device model, OS version, telecom provider, banking details, IMEI number and IMSI number. Researchers believe that a Chinese group Roming Mantis is working behind it.

Researchers said, ‘Our analysis showed that behind FakeSpy malware is the Chinese Speaking Group, commonly known as Roaming Mentis. This is a group that has been known to launch similar campaigns in the past.
