Bihar’s First Metro Rail Begins Operations Tomorrow – Fares, Routes & Timings Explained

Patna Metro: The dream of millions of people living in Patna, the capital of Bihar, has finally come true today. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the 3.6 kilometer long stretch of the Patna Metro Rail Project.

This stretch is completely elevated and a total of 3 stations have been built on it – Patliputra ISBT, Zero Mile and Bhootnath Road. After the inauguration of the first phase of the Patna Metro Rail Project, common passengers will now be able to ride the metro in their city from Tuesday, October 7. Patna Metro will currently run with only 3 coaches.

Seating capacity of 138 passengers

In addition to inaugurating the first phase of the Patna Metro, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also laid the foundation stone for six underground metro stations, including Patna Junction, and a 9.35-kilometer tunnel. The three-coach Patna Metro train can seat approximately 138 passengers and accommodate 945 standing passengers per trip. The Patna Metro will significantly reduce congestion and traffic congestion in the city. Most importantly, the people of Patna will now be able to travel on their own metro.

The first phase of Patna Metro will have a total of 12 stations.

The ISBT-Bhootnath Road stretch is located on the Blue Line of the Patna Metro Rail Project. The Blue Line’s first station will be Patna Junction, and its last station will be the New ISBT. The Blue Line will have a total of 12 stations, including five elevated and seven underground stations, covering a total distance of 16.2 kilometers from Patna Junction to the New ISBT. These stations include Patna Junction, Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moin Ul Haq Stadium, Rajendra Nagar, Malahi Pakri, Khemni Chak, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and the New ISBT.

Patna Metro Ticket Price and Timings

Patna Metro fares have been set between ₹15 and ₹30. Traveling from ISBT to Zero Mile will cost ₹15, while from the new ISBT to Bhootnath Metro Station will cost ₹30. The Patna Metro will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Passengers will find trains every 20 minutes. Each train will have 12 reserved seats for women and disabled passengers.
