BSNL: On one hand, the government telecom company BSNL is offering a great recharge plan for Rs 1, on the other hand, it is continuously reducing the validity of its old affordable plans. Recently, the validity of Rs 197 and Rs 99 plans was reduced, and now the company has also reduced the validity of its popular Rs 147 plan.
Rs 147 plan now has less validity
Earlier, BSNL’s Rs 147 recharge plan came with a validity of 30 days. In this, users got unlimited calling, free national roaming and 10GB high-speed data. However, free SMS facility was not provided in this plan. But now BSNL has reduced the validity of this plan by 5 days. This means that now users will get only 25 days validity while all other facilities will remain the same. The benefits of calling, roaming and data are still included in the plan, but due to less validity, users will have to recharge more often.
BSNL on the path of private companies
Just as private telecom companies are keeping the recharge rates stable and reducing their validity, BSNL is also adopting the same strategy now. The price of the plan is the same but the benefit has now reduced.
The Rs 99 plan was earlier valid for 18 days, which has been reduced to 15 days. At the same time, the Rs 197 plan earlier gave a validity of 70 days, which has now been reduced to just 54 days. This move of the company is being seen as an attempt to increase its ARPU (Average Revenue Per User).
Airtel’s year-long plan
Airtel has introduced two such plans in which there is no facility of internet data but full benefit of calling and SMS is available. The plan with 84 days validity is available for Rs 469. It offers unlimited calling across the country, free roaming and 900 SMS. The plan with 365 days validity comes for Rs 1849. It also includes unlimited calling, free roaming and 3600 SMS for the whole year.
