If you are planning any important work related to the bank, then first it is important for you to know that the banks will be closed for a total of 12 days in May 2025. Today, on May 1, the bank is closed due to Labor Day and Maharashtra Day. These include weekly holidays i.e. Sunday, second and fourth Saturday. Apart from these, many states will remain closed due to local festivals and special days.

Weekend holiday

In May, banks will be closed for a total of 6 days due to weekly holidays. This includes all Sundays i.e. 4, 11, 18 and 25 May and the second 10 May and the fourth Saturday 24 May.

Banks are going to remain closed for 6 days in different states of the country. According to the list of holidays released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), here is the complete list of holidays according to the states.

  • May 1 (Thursday): Labor Day and Maharashtra Day – Banks will remain closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.
  • May 9 (Friday): Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in Kolkata.
  • May 12 (Monday): Buddha Purnima – Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar.
  • May 16 (Friday): State Day – Banks will remain closed in Gangtok.
  • 26 May (Monday): Kazi Nazrul Islam Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in Agartala.
  • 29 May (Thursday): Maharana Pratap Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in Shimla.

Will online banking services be available?

Although bank branches will remain closed on these dates, customers will be able to transact through digital means like UPI, Net Banking, Mobile Banking, IMPS. These services will be available 24×7. Customers are advised to complete important bank related work in time so that any kind of inconvenience can be avoided during the holidays.
