Bank Holiday August 2025: According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), there are a total of 15 bank holidays in August 2025, which include national festivals like Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmashtami. Also, banks will remain closed in all states on every Sunday and second and fourth Saturdays.

Banks will remain closed across the country on August 15 (Friday) on the occasion of Independence Day.
State-wise special holidays
There will be additional holidays in different states due to local festivals and events.
- August 8 (Friday): Banks will remain closed in Gangtok (Sikkim) on the occasion of Tendong Lho Rum Phat.
- 9 August (Saturday): Banks are closed in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh on account of Rakshabandhan/Jhulna Purnima. Also, this day is second Saturday.
- August 13 (Wednesday): Banks closed in Imphal (Manipur) on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day.
- August 16 (Saturday): Banks will be closed on the occasion of Janmashtami/Krishna Janmashtami in 18 cities including Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Shillong, Srinagar, Gangtok.
- August 19 (Tuesday): Banks will remain closed in Agartala (Tripura) on the occasion of birthday of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.
- August 25 (Monday): Banks will remain closed in Guwahati (Assam) on account of Tirubhava tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva.
- August 27 (Wednesday): Banks will remain closed in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Panaji, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.
- August 28 (Thursday): Nuakhai in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and Panaji (Goa) are holidays on the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi.

- Digital services operational: Net banking, mobile apps, UPI transactions and ATM services will remain available even on the holiday.
- Cheque processing will be halted: Transactions such as cheques, demand drafts under the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be processed on holidays.
