HDFC ATM Charges: Like every time, many changes are happening from the 1st of this year. From today, people who use ATM more will have to pay more money. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has changed the rules for withdrawing money from ATM. This will change the limit of free withdrawal, the money charged after that and the charges levied between banks.
According to the new rules, customers will get some free ATM usage limit every month. ATMs can be used for free three times in big cities and five times in small cities. These free usage limits include both withdrawing money and checking other things related to the account.
According to the new rules, if customers use ATM more than the free usage limit in a month, then they will now have to pay Rs 23 every time. Earlier this charge was Rs 21.
However, the number of free ATM usage will remain the same as before. You will be able to use your bank’s ATM five times a month for free, other banks’ ATMs in big cities for three times a month for free and other banks’ ATMs in small cities for five times a month for free.
Many big banks like HDFC Bank and PNB have informed customers about the change in the free transaction limit. Banks advise customers to use the ATM only after knowing about the charges.
According to HDFC Bank, from May 1, 2025, after the free limit, the fee for ATM transactions will be changed from Rs 21 + tax to Rs 23 + tax. According to the bank, non-financial transactions (such as checking balance) at HDFC Bank ATMs are still free, while after the free limit, only withdrawals will be charged.
Announcing the changes, PNB said, “The fee charged from customers for transactions beyond the free limit at ATMs of other banks has been changed from May 9, 2025 to Rs 23 for financial transactions and Rs 11 for non-financial transactions (excluding GST).”
Changing its policy, IndusInd Bank said, “All savings, salary, NRI and current account customers will be charged Rs 23 per transaction for withdrawing money after the free limit from non-IndusInd Bank ATMs from May 1, 2025.”
