Anthropic Leak: Accidental Exposure Unveils “Claude Mythos” and 8 Power Features

The scale of Anthropic’s recent security lapse has come into sharp focus, with new reports confirming that the unintended release of the Claude Code source code exposed not just internal logic, but a roadmap for the company’s next-generation AI architecture. Approximately 1,900 files and 512,000 lines of code were packaged into a public npm release due to a “manual process error” during a rapid deployment cycle.

While Anthropic executives stress that no customer data was breached, the leak has provided the public with an unprecedented look at unreleased features and a “step-change” model tier known as Capybara.

The Leaked “Power Features” of Claude Code

Independent researchers and entrepreneurs have identified at least eight unreleased experimental features within the 60MB cli.js.map file. These tools suggest Anthropic is moving toward a highly autonomous, multi-agent ecosystem.

Feature Name Functionality
Kairos A background daemon that allows Claude to run tasks and organize memories while the user is idle.
Coordinator Mode A high-level orchestration mode where one AI breaks a massive task into smaller parts and delegates them to “sub-agents.”
Auto-Dream An autonomous memory-integration logic where the agent “reviews” its daily learnings to create structured, clean long-term memory files.
Ultraplan A remote planning instance that can explore and “think” ahead for up to 30 minutes on a separate cloud instance.
Undercover Mode A feature used by Anthropic’s own engineers to contribute to open-source projects without leaving internal metadata in public commit histories.
Bridge A remotely controllable bridging function for cross-device or cross-instance communication.

“Mythos” and the Capybara Tier

Adding to the company’s woes, a separate leak via a misconfigured Content Management System (CMS) exposed a draft blog post for Claude Mythos.

  • Model Tier: Mythos belongs to a brand-new tier called “Capybara,” positioned above the current top-tier “Opus” models.

  • Capabilities: The leaked documents describe Mythos as “by far the most powerful AI model ever developed,” with specialized focus on advanced reasoning, coding, and autonomous cybersecurity.

  • Risk Factor: Anthropic reportedly warned government officials that the Mythos model is so advanced in finding software vulnerabilities that it could significantly outpace human defenders in 2026.

Breaking Headlines: April 2, 2026

The Anthropic leak is competing for attention with several major global and domestic crises:

  • Market Bloodbath: Indian investors lost ₹10 lakh crore in a single hour today as the Sensex crashed 1,500 points. The panic was triggered by President Trump’s “Stone Age” warning to Iran, which sent Brent Crude soaring past $105.

  • Ceasefire Rumors: While Trump claimed on Truth Social that Iran had asked for a deal, Tehran officially dismissed the claim as “false and baseless,” leading to further market volatility.

  • New Waste Rules: A mandatory 4-Dustbin Waste Rule kicked in across India today. Households must now segregate waste into:

    • Green: Wet waste (peels/food).

    • Blue: Dry waste (plastic/paper).

    • Red: Sanitary waste (diapers/napkins).

    • Black: Hazardous waste (e-waste/medicines)

  • Malda Tensions: CJI Surya Kant rapped the Bengal administration over the 9-hour “siege” of judicial officers, noting he was personally monitoring the situation until 2 AM to ensure the safety of a 5-year-old child trapped in the gherao.

Investigative Insight: The “Internal Tool” Paradox

The most striking revelation from the Claude Code leak isn’t the code itself, but the “Undercover Mode” and “Auto-Dream” logic. These features prove that Anthropic’s internal engineers have been using highly advanced “agentic” versions of Claude to build the product for months. By inadvertently shipping these features to the public, Anthropic has given competitors like OpenAI and Google a functional blueprint for AI Memory Integration.

While Boris Cherny (Claude Code creator) claims 90% of these features “don’t ship” because they aren’t good enough, the “Auto-Dream” logic is already functional enough to be found in the v2.1.88 package. For a company that markets itself on “safety and transparency,” having a hidden mode designed to strip “internal information” from public commits suggests that Anthropic is much more aggressive in its use of autonomous agents than its public-facing “Safety Reports” let on.
