T-2 was built 40 years ago by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). In April this year, it was closed for expansion. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said on Monday that with the opening of this terminal, about 120 daily domestic flights of Air India and Indigo will be shifted here from midnight of 25-26 October. This will ease the operation of flights at the airport.

Terminal 2 has been equipped with several special facilities including upgraded flooring materials, improved road connectivity, new high-resolution flight information display system, clear sign boards, wheelchair accessible, elevated ramps for passenger convenience, side cushions that enhance safety and modern design.

The waiting time of passengers will decrease

  • The new terminal will be equipped with ‘Self Baggage Drop’ (SBD) system. This will allow passengers to tag their baggage and check-in on their own without any queue. This will reduce the waiting time.
  • Skylights have been created in Terminal-2 for natural lighting.
  • Special arrangements have been made for the convenience of the disabled.
  • Six new passenger boarding bridges of Korean technology have been introduced in the new terminal, which use the ‘autonomous docking’ system. This will be implemented for the first time in India.
