Aadhaar Card Rules Changed: The process of making Aadhaar cards for children across the country has now become more clear and document-based than before. If you are thinking that you will get Aadhaar card by giving birth certificate and photo, then this is your biggest mistake. UIDAI has issued new guidelines regarding child Aadhaar enrollment, which have come into effect with immediate effect. Now parents will have to provide proof from the list of prescribed documents to get Aadhaar made for children.
Documents required for children below 5 years of age
- Child’s birth certificate or discharge slip from the hospital
- Aadhar card of mother or father
- Proof of relationship to prove that the child is theirs
- A photo in which he is smiling a little
According to a UIDAI official, this change will bring transparency in the enrolment process and correct information will be maintained in the children’s records.
Biometric update time
To ensure the identity of children, biometric update will now be mandatory at the age of 5 and 15 years. In this, fingerprint, iris scan and new photo are taken. This entire process is free.
When was Aadhar card introduced?
Aadhaar card was introduced in India on 28 January 2009, when the Government of India established the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Its purpose was to give a 12-digit unique identification number to every Indian resident. The country’s first Aadhaar card was issued to Ranjana Sonawane of Nandurbar district of Maharashtra on 29 September 2010, which became a historic start of this scheme. This identity card contains biometric and demographic information of the person and is considered proof of residence, not citizenship. Today Aadhaar has become the world’s largest digital identity system.
