Aadhaar Card Rules: According to UIDAI regulations, you can update your name on your Aadhaar card only a limited number of times. Learn about the documents required and the fees you’ll need to pay.

Today, nearly 90 percent of the country’s population has an Aadhaar card. It’s required for everything from school and college admissions to availing government schemes. However, sometimes incorrect information is entered on people’s Aadhaar cards.

Aadhaar card details like name, address, or date of birth are often incorrectly entered. UIDAI has provided users with the ability to correct these information, although there is a limit on the number of times this information is corrected.

According to UIDAI regulations, the name on an Aadhaar card cannot be changed repeatedly. Each individual is only allowed to update it a limited number of times. This is to prevent the system from adding incorrect or fraudulent details through frequent changes.

According to UIDAI, name changes are only permitted twice. This means that if a person has updated their name twice, they cannot change it a third time. If they have a valid reason or proof, they can check the UIDAI Special Permission.

To update your name, the Aadhaar holder must provide certain documents, such as a passport, voter ID, PAN card, or government service card. These documents must contain the correct name to ensure there are no discrepancies.

To update your name in Aadhaar offline, you need to visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Fill out a form and submit it along with supporting documents. After verifying your details, the official will begin the update process. Your new Aadhaar will be ready within a few days.

You also have to pay a fixed fee to change your name in Aadhaar, which has recently changed. Previously, you had to pay 50 rupees for this. Now, you will have to pay 75 rupees. The new changes are expected to take effect on October 1st.
