8th Pay Commission: The 8th Pay Commission is bringing great hope for the central government employees. After the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, a huge increase in the salary and allowances of all government employees is expected. Under this commission, not only the basic salary will increase, but house rent allowance, travel allowance, children’s education allowance and other allowances will also be revised. All this change will be based on the fitment factor. The fitment factor will decide how many times the salary of the employees will increase.

This news is very important for those doing government jobs. Along with the salary, this change will also have a direct impact on facilities like HRA, TA, NPS and CGHS. However, this change will be implemented only after the announcement and report of the commission. At present, this estimate is based on the fitment factor of 2.08.

What is the fitment factor?

  • The fitment factor in the 6th Pay Commission was: 1.86
  • It was increased to 2.57 in the 7th Pay Commission
  • Possible fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission: 2.08

If the fitment factor of 2.08 is implemented in the 8th Pay Commission, then apart from the basic salary of all the employees, many allowances are sure to increase.

Who decides the salary?

The Pay Commission consists of retired judges, senior economists, experienced officers and experts. They prepare a report after talking to trade unions and departments. The government takes a final decision on the report and then the salary is implemented.
