7th Pay Commission DA Hike For July 2025: If you yourself are in a government job or a member of your family is a central employee, then this news is of your use. Yes, government employees and pensioners are expecting an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for July-December 2025. This will be the last DA hike under the Seventh Pay Commission. In such a situation, people are waiting for it a lot. Actually, the DA hike done this time will also affect the recommendation of the Eighth Pay Commission.
Currently getting 55% DA
In the month of March this year, the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi increased the DA by two percent. This increase came into effect from January 1, 2025 and benefited more than one crore employees and pensioners. With this increase, DA increased from 53% to 55%. Earlier in July 2024, DA was increased from 50% to 53%. Now all eyes are on the next DA hike for July-December 2025. This increase is expected to be announced in October or November 2025.
This time there is a hope of a good increase in DA
The DA hike to be implemented this time will be the last increase under the 7th Pay Commission. Actually, the 8th Pay Commission is likely to be implemented from January 1, 2026. Employees and pensioners are expecting a significant increase in DA this time. Let us tell you that DA is calculated on the basis of All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW). The Labor Bureau under the Labor Ministry has released CPI-IW data for March 2025, which is giving positive indications.
How much increase is expected?
Based on the average till March 2025, DA has reached 57.06%. If CPI-IW remains stable or increases slightly in April, May and June 2025, then this average can go up to 57.86%. Usually DA is calculated in full digit. This means that DA can be up to 57% or 58%. For example, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000, then at 57% DA, it will be Rs 10,260 and at 58% DA, it will be Rs 10,440.
What is Dearness Allowance?
Dearness Allowance (DA) helps government employees and pensioners to deal with rising prices (inflation). It is a part of their salary and pension. It is changed twice a year. The first change is made from January to June and the second from July to December. Increasing DA increases the salary and pension of employees, which strengthens their financial condition.
