7th Pay Commission, Central Government Pensioner, Life Certificate: Amidst the ongoing corona crisis in the country, there is a relief news for millions of central government pensioners. The government has extended the last date for submission of life certificates of these pensioners by two months. Now they have to submit their life certificate by 28 February 2021 instead of 31 December 2020. The last date for submission of life certificate has been extended once again after much deliberation with the Office of the Controller General of Accounts.
Earlier, in September 2020, the deadline for submission of life certificates for central government pensioners was extended. After this decision of the government, he could submit his life certificate from 1 November 2020 to 31 December 2020. However, now once the deadline is increased, all pensioners of the Central Government will be able to submit their life certificates from 1 November 2020 to 28 February 2021 this year. Pensioners will continue to receive their pension without any interruption during this extended time period.
The Pension and Pensioners Welfare Department is the nodal department for policy making on pension and retirement benefits of civil servants of the Central Government. This department has put a circular on its Twitter handle to extend the deadline for submitting life certificate.
Those above 80 years of age will get special facility
Every pensioner of the central government has to submit his life certificate in the month of November every year. This is proof of his being alive. The pension continues on its deposit. In order to give relief to the very elderly people, pensioners aged 80 years and above have been given the facility to submit life certificate from October 1 instead of November 1.
Postmen sitting at home will submit life certificates
Recently a new facility has also been introduced for central government pensioners and that is to provide door to door service to the pensioners by submitting life certificates online by postmen. However, pensioners will also have to pay a fee on this service of the postal department and it will be available to all central government pensioners across the country.
