7th Pay Commission: Big News! Retired central govt employees to get gratuity, cash payments, DA at this date

Central government employees have been in for quite a treat since their DA, DR and other allowances were increased under the 7th pay commission update.



Now, it’s time for retired folks to receive their share. of the retired folks. Yes, if you were a central government employee and currently are living a retired life then here’s some good news for you.

The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has declared that retired central employees will receive cash payment and gratuity. The information for gratuity for January 2020 to June 2021 has been released. The ministry recently issued a memorandum in which it mentioned the release of dearness allowance (DA) from 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2021.

The ministry took to Twitter to inform the retired employees about the benefits they would receive. The tweet said that the Department of Expenditure has issued an Office of Memorandum on September 7 2021 regarding gratuity and leave encashment for central employees. These are the employees who have retired during the period from January 2020 to June 2021.

The dearness allowance was increased to 28 per cent by adding additional installments of 4 per cent DA increased on January 1, 2020, 3 per cent DA increased on July 1, 2020 and 4 per cent DA increased on January 1, 2020. The retired employees will receive the DA accordingly.


The memorandum issued by the ministry also said that from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, gratuity and cash payment in lieu of leave for retired central employees and already retired employees will be one-time retirement benefits.

The current rate of Dearness Allowance:

– January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 – 21% of Basic Salary

– January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 – 24% of basic salary

– January 1, 2021 to May 30, 2021 – 28% of the basic salary
